Dating a Monson

Hey guy's, just wondering if anyone knows where I could find info on how to date my gun. The serial # is 2064xx. I'm suspecting it's from 1979 because there was a 79 brochere that came with the pistol pack. But I could be wrong about that. Any help would be appreciated. Thank's, Cal

From what I understand, all records from earlier iterations of the company were confiscated by the BATF never to be seen again.

Any chance some of it could be freed up by asking by way of the "Freedom of information act"? I can see no reason they would have not to release that type of info. Has anybody tried?
