Thumbhole Stocks
« on: January 27, 2004, 05:26:15 PM »
I am thinking of getting a thumbhole laminate stock for my Ruger m77mk2 in 7mag. I love the look of them but don't have much experience behind one.
I'd like to get some of your opinions of thumbhole stocks on hunting rifles. THANKS

I have one on a Rem Model Seven and I like it. Sure makes it feel like you have a better grip on it when you are aimiing at something. Don't know if that is real or just an illusion but I like it anyway.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.

I have one on a contender carbine and like it so much I just bought another. It definitly gives me better control of the rifle. They do need to fit you well though. I have picked some up that didn't fit me and they were terrible.  KN

I got a Howa action that I dropped into a Boyd Ross thumbhole laminate.  It looks great and feels real good.  I did require glassing and final finishing but it was worth it.  Try www.boydboys.com[/img]

I restocked my custom FN Mauser .257 Roberts with a Boyds laminated thumbhole stock. Like it very much.
