have a later mod. 77 with a clip. have tried 5 different brands/types of ammo. all hang in the clip. would spreading the clip be an option? any other suggestions?

you should try another clip.It might be a week spring or your clip isn't going high enough.Maybe check the trigger guard for trouble.I think I know where there are couple of clips for this gun reasonable.

i'd be interested in those clips. the trigger guard is plastic. do all the clip models have plastic trigger guards or are there steel versions available?

Zach: I own a 77 and it has a plastic trigger guard and all that I have seen also do, again you might try another clip like has been suggested, as Mine will feed everything put thru it, also slowly work the action (outside in a safe area) watching the round and see if you can see where it is hanging up might give you some indication opf the problem.

sunday was my 1st oppurtunity to fire this rifle. i had a variety of ammo. my goal was to zero a newly installed scope. the rim of the case was hanging in the clip. i will try to locate another clip. ken, if you can get the clips you mentioned i'd take them. i'm trying to get this rifle ready as a grandson's bithday present. he's turning 14 & already has bagged 2 whitetale & a gobbler. thanks all for the input.
