Sims (SVL) Recoil Pad?
« on: May 18, 2004, 12:47:35 PM »
Hey all, I'm looking to replace the recoil pad on a Remington Model 700 Springfield 30-06.

I've looked at Sims website and called their sales support, but it seems like their template models don't fit my wood stock.  My wood stock measures approximately 5 1/8" in length and 1 5/8" wide.

I'm thinking about using the slip on model, but unsure how they are.

Anyone have any experience with with the SIMS Recoil Pads?

Fill me in! :)

BowhunterNJ,

No experience with ‘Sims’ but why not go with a Pachmyar Decelerator?  They come in many different sizes including ones that are very close to fitting your rifle with very little filing or grinding.  I use them on ALL my rifles/shotguns for the simple reason THEY WORK.  Small groups and tight lines to you.  Lawdog

The R3 is the same thing as the Sims, and I have them installed on a few of my harder kicking rifles.  They work great.  As far as the Pachmyer Decelerator, I would say that the Sims/R3 works about the same.

You can't go wrong with either.
