Scope rail for Rem 597
« on: April 16, 2004, 08:05:03 AM »
Can anyone tell me which scope rail will fit the Remington 597 22LR?  I don't really like using the one that is part of the gun.  I'd rather have the larger scope rail.

Butter Soft Reciever

One big problem I had when trying to mount bases or a rail to the top of my 597 was that the reciever was way to soft. and my torque screws totally stripped out all the threads on the reciever.  This is a very common problem with these 597s. Refer to http://www.rimfirecentral.com/ to read more about this.  I have heard of guys scopes falling off due to this problem after shooting them a few times.

In the end I had to use the grooved rails on the reciever to get the dang thing to hold a scope.

There are a few links on http://www.rimfirecentral.com/ that can show different rails to get for you 597.
