Had a good day yesterday, Sunday. My 2 boys,me, and a friend of theirs went out perch fishing on Lake Erie. Water is still a bit warm, but after some chasing around, found a school that was on the bite. First, we went about 5 miles out, 19' of water, got a couple, threw some back, to small, kept a few, swallowed the hook and don't want to feed the seagulls, so they went in the cooler. About another 5 mile run towards West sister Island, 21'-22' of water, real slow, caught about 3-4 in an hour, and picked up and ran west towards the Toledo Outer light, shipping channel. Got into around 20' of water, slow at first, and then it picked up. Got a few doubles, and size went up. Most in the 8-10'' range, got a couple over 10'' with Mark, owner of the boat getting an 11 1/2'' perch. Ended up with 9lbs. of filets. Hope to get 1 more trip in this fall. Water cools down, maybe a run over to the reels in front of Camp Perry and cast for walleye. Keep my fingers crossed.
