Well, Trump did say that if Putin didn't agree to a cease fire, and end the war, he/Trump would impose sanctions. So far, there is no cease fire, or end to the war.

  I think some folks have a different view of diplomacy than what the actual situation is. ..And of course, the popular media does nothing to clarify misunderstandings.

The meeting in Alaska, was simply to prepare the ground for  a meeting between Putin and Zelensky. The Pres couldn't make any deal for Zelensky, only Zelensky can do that !
   
  So far as this initial meeting went, it was a huge success..especially for Pres Trump and the USA.  The normally intangibles made great strides..

  This may sound juvenile, but initial impressions go far, not only for the masses of people, but in a subtle way, for national leaders too !

  Both planes land..Air force One seems to loom larger than it's Russian counterpart!  Then as Putin joins the president on the red carpet, while Pres trump manages the "Alpha handshake"..

   Then they turn and walk down the carpet, between the noses of 2 lines of F-35s..likely the world's technically superior fighters..

     They barely pass the F35s, when a B2 bomber flies over with a fighter escort...a reminder of the destruction in a few minutes, of the nuclear industry of Iran.

   
  ...But the biggest news of it all, is Putin's admission that had Trump been president when the Ukraine war started, Putin would never have started the war..

yup its the way things work. you threaten and then compromise. trump wants the war over and knew dammed well if he would have told putin to pound sand and walked out that wouldnt happen. anyone who doesnt realize this is a bit slow. just saying he failed is nothing but food for the left. nothing they like more than republicans with doubts!!

Well, I appreciate the insider seminar on what actually happened in Alaska, and the incite into what Putin was, and is thinking, and what he will do next.  All those war planes flying over as they were walking together, along with Putins red carpet being a little narrow one, and Trumps being big and roomy were confusing to a  hillbilly like me. I thought the planes were lost, and they'd ran out of red carpet. I'm not at all skeptical anymore. Thanks.   

As to the title of this thread? No, there will be no cease fire like Trump requested. Putin said no.
