Would anyone care to venture a guess as to the stock finish on this M 64?
Sure looks nice. Best wishes. POW

Looks similar to the "Linspeed" oil finish we used to put on our stocks as kids. I think it's still available. If I remember it was a boiled linseed oil mixed with something else. Dried overnight, not like regular linseed oil. Gave a high gloss finish if you put enough coats on it, plus it was really waterproof. I use Minwax Wipe-On Poly now. Goes on like linseed, but is as durable a polyurathane and can be spot repaired.

Lin-Speed is still available.  Her is the site: http://www.huntamerica.com/linspeed/  POW, I'll have to swing by one of these days with my Lyman GPR which I refinished with the Lin-Speed.  I used it also on my model 88 Winchester, but that rifle has seen so much use in our rain country that it isn't as pretty any more.

Later!

helobill Linspeed is boiled linseed oil with a Japan drier added. I have had good luck  in about half dozen attempts using TruOil a very similar product.
The 64 in the photo looks to me like it is not either product. The glow of the shine is deep whereas the others mentioned seem to give two options. One is a surface gloss the second is  a satin finish.
Either way I`m having a 20" barrel and shortened (button)magazine put onto my 64. I love that look. Best wishes. POW
