Aldi is a store from Germany as far as
i know
The local one always has all this european
type stuff like strange canned fish and
european breads and crackers and stollen
and stuff like that. Since this is border jumper
central, a good bit of the european type
stuff sells pretty slow or not at all.
The Fiesta store across the street outsells
them way way more even though they're
higher priced.  The aldi is the closest grocery
store to me and I shop there more often
as long as they don't overprice stuff .
For a while there, their lunch meat was a
good bit higher than the other stores, and
they were just out of a lot of things
for a period of time.  No meats or
dairy and canned goods, etc.
They used to have really good affordable
frozen pizzas, but they haven't had
those for a very long time. They haven't
had any fishsticks for about a year
now. They have the buggies that you
have to insert a refundable quarter in
the slot to free up the cart to use, but
I don't mind that at all. You just have to
return the cart to the cart storage area
and your quarter squirts right back
out of the slot after you properly stow
it back. You also need to bring your own
bags or sacks to put your groceries in,
or they'll sell you some new for about
a dime apiece.  I have a goodly pile
of plastic and reusable shopping bags,
so it's no hardship for me. The cart
"rental" isn't an issue for me either
since I get my quarter right back after
I return the cart to the rightful place.
It's kinda funny to me that a good
many pinheads in this area try to
get quarters out of the "coinbox" on
the carts, when there's nothing inside
of the mechanism. As soon as you
return the cart and click it back together,
there's no money inside of it.
Not a bad place to shop overall.
Way closer than any other for me
