  One man who is here in the US..says his sister, (an American citizen) cannot get through the Taliban cordon, because to show her American passport..would be a death warrant !

    Sarah Carter is in contact with several people in Afghanistan.  She says that among other things, the Taliban is marking doors to homes/apartments.  they plan that after the US pulls out, they will go door to door... executing.

  A former Ranger speaks to Steve..he begs to be among a rescue force, deployed to rescue the abandoned people. 
    A retired general estimates a force of 6,000 could do the job. He begs to be among the rescuers, to be a gunner on a truck, would be fine with him !

"Nation building" swarays are huge money making operations for defense contractors, and building contractors in general. The United States government passes out government contracts with huge paydays of taxpayer money to all kinds of "projects".
Anytime these "nation building" projects are criticized "the schools" and "the churches" being built are always thrown back at the critics.
I've see that here on GBO concerning Afghanistan. Those schools, and churches, are just buildings now. Idealogical "nation building/imported forced revolution" never works.
To shorten this "rant" I'm saying I have mixed emotions on these Americans still in Afghanistan. NO! I don't want them to be killed, or tortured, I feel for them, and their families, but I don't believe Afghanistan was "temporarily transformed" into a free anything.
It was, is, and always has been, a theocratic warlord, tribal society, waiting for interloping idealistic Americans to leave, or be defeated.
It has always been a dangerous environment, and to go there for money is to take the risks that go with the greed.

Yes ... and that has always been their way hasn't it? Iranians after we surrendered a patrol craft to them in the Gulf literally held a parade with actors that portrayed us as fat cowardly and shameless. They're flaunting that they have ISIS and Al Qaeda folks joining them now in the great caliphate, while our State Dept believes all of their lies.

China is mocking us too, but in very specific ways to all of our allies in the Pacific, and its working. They're all uncertain that we have their backs.

North Korea has turned its reactor back on, mocking us ... daring the current administration to enforce Trump's agreement, which they know they won't do since it was Trump's agreement.

Our allies in Aus, NZ, and across Europe are all mocking us as well; Germany turned to Russia to help them get their folks out of the region because they couldn't trust us.

I cannot imagine with all of that mockery going on that we are somehow safer today than we were a year ago.
