The wife and myself made a trip to the Alamo with my Texas sister. Standing there gave me a sense of something special about it. Kind of like the shivers thinking of all the brave men that died there. It's a shame San Antonio is slowly becoming a liberal city like Austin and the rest. Tucson, Phoenix  and even Flagstaff in northern Arizona all falling to the liberal left. Wished an alarm clock would go off and America would wake up but don't think it will happen. But who knows maybe in a few years it will all be just a bad dream. Na don't think so.

Did you read Travis'  letter asking for reinforcements while there? A braver man, or a more stirring letter there never was.
Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times.

Yes I did Dee, you're right. Very moving. There have been times like that other places where men knew they were going to die and sucked it up and just went on. That is one reason I feel the way I do about democracy and gets my blood boiling when others shrug it off.

I'm proud that a fellow New Hampshirite named Amos Pollard served at the Alamo, he was a surgeon and set up the hospital at the Alamo. He paid the ultimate price defending the Alamo. He also served in the Battle of Gonzales and the Siege of Bexar.

Used to be a hall (alcove?) with all the names
and place of origin and the flag of same of each
of the defenders.
That may have changed since I was there last.
There's so many these days that would just as
soon see the whole blankety blanker blown to
bits or bulldozed to the ground.
Never could figure these idiots that worry about
stuff here that doesn't concern them

Yes, braver men never lived.    I saw the Alamo circa 1978 and read the letter then.  Our hotel had it posted in a prominent place.
I wish we could round up about a million just like them now.  We could use them.

You should arrange to visit somehow while
it's still here. The way things are these days,
there's no telling what might happen.
Some of these nutjob pinheads might destroy
it,  or some of these twisted gubmint types
might have it knocked down as a " symbol of
oppression "
There's already some that want it gone

Maybe there will enough armed Texans to protect it.   I hope so.   It's a monument to some real men.

People who care are getting fewer here.

William Johnstone wrote a book about
this very subject.
It's a very interesting read
