I was thinking of getting a light weight deer gun. Originally I was considering the following: a model 70 Winchester compact classic, a Tikka T3 or a Remington Model 7. Today I ran into two used rifles. A compact classic in 308 ($625 Canadian) and a Remington model 600 Mohawk in 308 ($500 Canadian). The Remington comes with an older 4X Leupold scope. I don't really want to pay the premium for a new rifle as I've overspent my budget already. The Mohawk was not really one of my first options as there are so few around. Any thoughts? I heard that Mohawks had some safety issues. Thanks.
