Hygiene Theater Is a Huge Waste of Time

In May, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidelines to clarify that while COVID-19 spreads easily among speakers and sneezers in close encounters, touching a surface “isn’t thought to be the main way the virus spreads.” Other scientists have reached a more forceful conclusion. “Surface transmission of COVID-19 is not justified at all by the science,” Emanuel Goldman, a microbiology professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, told me. He also emphasized the primacy of airborne person-to-person transmission.

There is a historical echo here. After 9/11, physical security became a national obsession, especially in airports, where the Transportation Security Administration patted down the crotches of innumerable grandmothers for possible explosives. My colleague Jim Fallows repeatedly referred to this wasteful bonanza as “security theater.”

COVID-19 has reawakened America’s spirit of misdirected anxiety, inspiring businesses and families to obsess over risk-reduction rituals that make us feel safer but don’t actually do much to reduce risk—even as more dangerous activities are still allowed. This is hygiene theater.

  This whole twisted game is nothing more than a political Kabuki theatre !  It is just a Marxist move to deprive a formerly free people of their constitutional freedoms.


  Look at the results thus far !  Formerly free people are now donning a mask when in public.  They are voluntarily separating themselves by a distance of 6 feet !


    They have given themselves over to refraining from attending ball games, weddings, funerals...and some have even been refused permission to be present with dying spouses.


    Some few are so brainwashed, that we see them riding bicycles, walking in parks or forests of fishing all alone...but dutifully wearing their slave mask !

I'm sure that after all this is
said and done that many will
go right back to scratching
their privates and their heads,
and digging in their noses
like they did pre pandemic.

Still, the fact remains that if
they'd barred potentially infected
persons from entering the
country until they were known
to be disease free, there wouldn't
be any shutdowns, layoffs, etc.
There's no reason any Covid or
Ebola or any infectious disease
should be loose in this country

Border jumpers brought us back meningitis and polio. And turned it loose into our schools.
Obama's open borders, on top of everything else he so wisely did to us. Gave Iran billions
of dollars in our cash. Now no one takes cash, especially ours the way things are going.

Not just the border jumpers.
We had a lot of world travelers
come back sick and spread
diseases.
If this mess doesn't wipe everyone
out, we need to go back in time to
where "getting your shots " and
mandatory quarantine where
necessary is the norm.


There's no reason to let infection
on the shores.


It wasn't that long ago that right
here in this area that a man came
back from an overseas vacation
infected with TB. He exposed
everyone on his whole route
out of pure selfishness. Should
have served some prison time,
but unfortunately they don't let
me have any say so in these matters
