Maybe Oldshooter and I should drive up there with trucks and trailers and bring them home to Texas. Afterall, it was Col. Walker, Texas Ranger, that put Sam Colt back in the gun business. It'd be just like comin' home. I think I'll call Rick Perry! Or maybe better yet, I'm close friends with the Walker family, I'd bet the bank they'd be more than glad to give them a few acres of land. "Cuse me, I gotta make a phone call.

Colt has indicated it was moving at least a portion of its company to Kissimmee in Central Florida.    Over 100 new jobs and in a gun friendly state.

Texas is a wonderful place but.......Florida is extremely gun friendly and according to FDLE our state has the MOST CCW permits in the country....over 1 million and still growing....... ;D

I guess Colt would be smart to divest itself from the Northeast and have a couple of plants in TX and FL ;)

Dear Lord,
PLEASE let it be Texas! Colt and Texas...no other combo could be such a natural fit!

Texas and Colt is what started the modernization of firearms,   what with Sam Colt and Sam Walker of the TX Rangers and the Paterson 5 shooter.....Yup that combo is kinda natural.

And Texas has right to work laws . Colt wouldn't have to put up with the UAW any longer .
A plant near its border with LA. would be ideal . East Texas is always going to be a hotbed for the old
American values . But if I were Colt execs I would also be looking at Big Timber Montana or some
place in Alaska . A move like this would be very expensive and you wouldn't want to set up in a place
that's going to turn lib on you within a couple of years like what has happened in Colorado.
Plus Texas has that border problem going on . Any border state at this time would be a high risk
investment for any large company . Montana would be a good one because it has a track record of
allowing for the private manufacture of firearms . But logistics could become a problem there in the
future , so Alaska with its ports is the best choise to me .
Until this ammunition situation is defined any gun manufacting in the near future is only a means to
build some very expensive wood and steel mud anchors .

LOL , Im not and I would love to see Texas get more businesses like this . I am only looking at it
from a long term logical business point of view. If you want a blueprint on what to do in a case like
this one needs to look no further than FNH . With the upheaval and shaky gun manufacturing
environment that was prevalent in Europe right after the fall of the Soviet Union FN had to make some very hard choises . They had to find not only a safe location but a governent that would be friendly
to them in the long term . They were lucky and were able to retain their present location in Belgium.
But they also bought out several other manufactures in other country's just in case .
Including some here in the US. FN is on the international scene and focused on many of the worlds
military's . I don't know that Colt has the ability to do that but FN has shown an interest in Colt
in the past . From a business perspective it might be wiser to just stay put and see where this is all
going like H&K says its going to do here in the US.
And if things go bad here just sell out to FNH or H&K and take the money and run .
Springfield is already in negotiations with FN rather than haveing to move its name once more or
change hands like it did when it relocated to ILL.

I think Virginia would ideal for them.  Be close to ports, railways, military.  Very gun friendly state.  Easy access to D.C.

New Hampshire would be better, the workers wouldn't have to move far. We already have Ruger, Sig Sauer, Heckler & Koch, LHR, Green Mountain barrels and a few other smaller companies. I would love to see Colt tell CT to pound sand.

Our governor here in Texas is openly courting gun makers!

Low taxes, right to work, business friendly, budget in 'da black, good weather.

W. Texas has traditional family values, low cost of operating and a refreshing lack of congestion.

Come on over Colt...oh, and bring back the Python, Diamondback, Anaconda & King Cobra :)

Lets see Liberals keep telling us that regulations and laws are good for business.  SO the rules and regs are making colt think about leaving their home of over 180 years.   Eliminating Jobs and killing Union jobs.
Well what is going to stop them from moving the head quarters one way and the manufacturing another like off shore so they can do the deep bluing again?  Can you say Turkish made Colt SAA's or Italian?  A reintroduced Brazilian made Detective Special?  A Chinese Python?  A Spanish Anaconda?

The small Kansas town of Wellington (13K pop. about 30 miles s of Wichita) has contacted all the major gun companies about relocating there. It is next to I-35, has a major RR line through it and there are a lot of retired and laid off machinists from the aircraft industry in the area. So far only Remington has responded simply thanking them for their interest.

There was a rumor that Uberti was casting the actions for Colts 4th gen SAA revolvers .
I know some people who bought them and had to send them back for warrenty claims .
But a Chinese python ? No way ! Is there nothing sacred ?
I have heard the Metro arms 1911 made in the Phillpines is a very good pistol for the price .
But even FNH was plagued with warrenty failures on their PS 90 and the 2000 when they first hit
the marketplace . Mostly from slam fires with the 2000 , its fireing pin was to heavy and would set
off the primers on some 223 ammo when closeing the bolt .
The PS 90 had problems with dew accumulation in the sight in humid areas , our cops bought a
couple of them and had to send them back because of this .

Taurus is currently having trouble with their safety lock on some of their revolvers. It will up and
decide to lock itself during fireing . I tried one and it did that to me so I took it back and got a charter
arms . American PC gun manufacturing is a complicated affair just ask Winchester .
Who at the time was owned by FN, and they placed a safety switch on the place where you would
put a tang sight on their reproduction 1886 rifles . Causeing the resale value of those rifles to be
very low consitering . Browning had the Japanese build theirs and they were 100% accurate in detail
and now command a high price .

So America is a hard place to build for or sell to with all our lawyers and regulations on gun
manufacture . H&K just said to hell with it and has sold to police and military for a long time now.
NM has no state gun laws other than what is federal , but let the Libs get their way like in Colo
and that will change . This is what I am talking about , how soon would it be for any state to turn
on the gun manufacturer after they moved to that state ? The problem is not where to move to
its the whole lib attitude on guns in general . Until that is addressed what's the use ?
You can't sell guns that people have no ammo for, you can't keep retooling for the latest PC safety
devise , you can't afford a non stop legal team to defend against the latest libtard attack on your
industry . Oh Texas may be making a lot of noise right now as are other states. But just look how
fast our national atmosphere and policys have changed with the last two elections !

Pretty shaky arena for any long term business decisions and not just with guns either but everything
else where the goal is to make a profit . You might get the one shot pony from the hording but that
is on the retail level and not on the manufacturing where you may not be able to produce more widgets . Due to governent regulations and executive orders that can come at you with the drop
of a hat . And a lot of these guns we were buying were made in other country's where they don't
even allow their own people to buy or own them . Until this libtard, lawyer problem is addressed it
isnt going to be safe for any company to do bussiness here building anything .
Just look at our medical industry , insurance industry, car manufactures , its all going downhill .

Much less if the consumer has any money left that's worth anything , they may as well use Pesos !

I keep hearing about 'commons sense gun control'.  That must mean the 20,000+ gun laws are not sensical. That is what we have been saying for years. Nonsense is what gun control is. The feebs are after rifles that are a very minor part of the 3% of rifles used in murders. It is nothing more than a "see, I am doing something to protect your kids".  It is a total sham. Every gun law written after the Second Amendment was ratified is illegal. I get so tired of hearing about 'common sense gun control' or ' isn't it worth it if it will save one childs life?'. What a bunch of bullshill. Law enforcement will kill thousands trying to confiscate 'assault weapons' to save that one child.

When it comes to gun control, law enforcement is the largest danger to American citizens. Even in states where open carry is legal, citizens are hassled for carrying a firearm. Cops just don't get it. We have the Right to carry guns. We do NOT have to justify it.

My local Barnes and Noble gets it. They have a No Smoking sign prominently displayed on every door. What they do NOT have is a 'no firearms' sign. Good on them.

Sharon even some police officers off record say the whole police state thing is getting out of control .
PDs are hireing people that in their opinion should never be allowed to wear a badge .
The real cops feel like this kind of officer is placing a black eye on their time honored profession .
One shift Sargent that is best friends with my brother said they had a rookie that was so convinced
or afraid that he was wrong l That he beat up a motorist he was convinced was drunk even after
the motorist had passed all the DWI test including the breathalyzer.
The Sargent was called to the scene in the middle of the night to find the rookie kicking the motorist
after knocking him to the ground . The rookie did have his gun out pointing it at the driver .

This rookie had been discharged from the Army on a less than desirable discharge. Now what did the
Army know about this guy that the police recruiters failed to recognize ?
The blue light bond between police officers has never been so stressed as it is now . Other officers
in this dept did not back up the actions of this one loony officer, only to be reduculed.
Gun issues are always a subject with them that can swing both ways , but in this state people have
a right to carry in their cars . Its always polite to inform the officer that you of have a gun in the car.
But this is not some admission of guilt just don't be stupid and reach for it to show it to the officer .
Most cops will either blow it off or ask you where it is and to please step out of the vehicle .
Then the cop will retrieve the gun and only run a check on it to see if it is stolen .

I do not mind things like this and most sane people don't either and they are usually very polite
while doing this . But what if your stopped by that one loose cannon like I said above who interprets
the law himself on the fly ? That could get very messy , cops have got to be a cut above this kind of behaveure when dealing with the public .

Ain't that the truth . I know someone who forked out the big money to buy a 4th gen SAA .
He took it out to shoot it and it locked up big time in the battery position and couldn't be disassembled
safely . After paying a gunsmith to remove the live rounds he sent it back to Colt and they had the
gun for well over 90 days. Did Colt fix the problem in a timely mannor to where it even looked good ?
NO ! They sent it back with grind marks all over the frame and cyl and didn't even bother to touch
it up . Angrily he called them and they told him that most people buy these guns as collectibles
or as an investment and never shoot them ! S&W has never been that way with me. I broke the
grips on my model 25 which was over 30 years old and they didn't ask any questions and overnighted
me a new set of grips at no charge . I'm more interested in what S&W would be doing than anything
Colt is . Sure the old Python was a great revolver, but give me a model 27 any day over a python.
Its the same with a Colt AR , from what I hear there is nothing wrong with an M&P they are every
bit as good maybe even better .
