Hi All, Can anyone tell me about this rifle? I have a chance to buy a NIB for $1395. How do they shoot? What size bullets(cast)? How much BLACK? and is that a good price? Are there differant sights available? Thanks Rog

Price? Maybe.  What are you going to use it for? What type of powder?  If you're planning on shooting black powder, get the BPCR model which is designed for black powder and heavy cast bullets.  You can get a new in the box BPCR for around that price and it comes with very good sights, ready to go.

Dozer, I thought about both cast and jacketed bullets. My shooting buddy Winks, shoots only black behind a 535gr cast, so I guess I'm not sure at this point. Which BPCR are you talking about? Thanks Roger

I was referring to the Browning 1885 BPCR model.  Like all 1885's, it's discontinued but they are for sale fairly regularly in the price range you mentioned.  Excellent quality and great shooters.  Also have a bit more weight and a better stock design for recoil than the regular 1885's.

Roger, I have three Browning BPCR's and enjoy shooting all of them.  They are competitive right out of the box. My 45-70 likes 67gr of GOEX Cart, Rem cases, WLR primers, Black Magic lube, and Lyman Postells with a 30:1 alloy. The 40-65 likes 65gr of GOEX Cart, WW cases, WLR primer, Black Magic lube, and the Saeco 740 bullet 30:1 alloy. I've not yet shot the 45-90 out to distances  (limited locally to 200m) that would give me an idea of its best load.  Almost forgot that .060 LDPE wads are used in most of my loads.  Roger Bump

Roger,  Ask TexasMac, who sometimes posts here about Browning BPCR's as he might have one for sale or know where one is. You may find him quicker over at   http://groups.msn.com/bpcr    Rbump
