Zastava M63 - Any Experience with These?
« on: April 21, 2013, 08:05:09 PM »
Hi All,
In trying to pick a "goes both ways" (hunting and SHTF) 30 cal rifle, Seems a lot of the bolt guns in my price range have a number or mechanical deficiencies when put up against a plain old Mauser... even though they are typically more accurate.

So one, on the fringe thought was the Zastava M63. Seems to be a faithful Mauser clone. But has some dings against it. 1) Mitchell's by most accounts, 2) Barrel is too short IMHO, 3) Not Staineless Steel (a personal want), 4) Not drilled and tapped for scope.

So, if we can side step the discussion of Mitchell's refurb practices that we've all read about... anyone know anything about just the *gun* itself?

Add 2-4 inches of barrel, scope and stainless, and it'd be what I'm looking for.

and well., that's essentially the Ruger GSR in Stainless... but can't find any NIB as of late. And a good 3-400 more expensive.

Anyway, thoughts and experienced appreciated.
