First you'll have to tell me what FRECKING is!
I have more guns than I need, but not as many as I want.

I've never seen any frecking or freckeling for that matter on any of the barrels I've had. Are you talking about light rust spots?

Can be caused by the barrel steel being an inconsistent blend thus 'taking' the blue differently;ie, hard steel colors differently than soft steel, but most likely poor surface prep before 'blueing'.

this occurred when I slow rusted my 45-70 handi rifle. the barrel came out an even matte black the cast receiver came out a mottled dark grey. even though it was not the expected result on the receiver I do like the unique look. once the project is complete i will post pictures for all to see.
