Patch knife
« on: November 10, 2012, 11:13:32 AM »
35 years ago I bought this knife on a whim, thought it looked good...
total length 3 1/2 inches, either antler or bone handle, damascas blade.  I think that dmascas blade is why I bought it.
It's unused.  it would make a good patch knife for those guys who like a small knife on the strap of their possibles bag.
on one side of the blade is (bench made tokyo japan) the other side is (parker, with what I think is a logo)  there is no sheath.  but a mountain man type could take care of that.

has anyone ever seen one of these, and could you put a value on it??  I want to put it up for sale.

The problem is going to be the blade guard, not PC for the period...

not having been to a rendezvous, I wasn't aware that they didn't have brass guards.

Jim Parker had hundreds of knives made in Japan in the 80's.  The Japanese makers who supplied him nicknamed him "600 dozen" based on the quantity he always ordered of a model.  While it's likely well made seeing as the Japanese don't make poor quality knives, my reference stated that Parker's knives have absolutely no collector's value.  Based on that, I can't really give you an idea on price....I'd hate to find out that contrary to what I found your model might have some value.  If it's a standard Parker import though, I'd probably try and get  $20 more than I paid for it.

thanks Joel,  $20 more would make it $40 and it's mighty small for that amount.
I'll think on this and maybe I can come up with a way for someone to enjoy it.
