forestock hole spacing, H and R 158
« on: November 26, 2012, 10:46:04 PM »
I picked up a 1972-made model 158 30-30... in well-used condition. Fixin' it up. I might need a new stock...or used.  Here's my question, does a forearm for a new NEF fit?  The buttstock I think is no problem, but I'm concerned the forestock spacing may be one.
AJ serial number prefix. 1/4-28 forearm screw.

If a new stock fits, I'm possibly offering a nice cut down (w/bead) 20 ga., 1963 about 20" barrel ( snap on forestock model) in trade.
The gun that came off of accepted a Tracker 1 12 ga. barrel perfectly.
Thanks for your help.

YES if its attached with a screw, the current forends will fit. BUT current barrels are bigger so the gap of the barrel channel will be laarger on the new one.

Yes the older ones used finer thread on the barrels.
