Rats still coming in!
« on: November 17, 2012, 03:28:36 PM »
Two days in a pond and out.  Rats  are a little smaller than  big lake or marsh rats  but they are rats.  Most of the big lake and marshes here are almost void of rats.  But the ponds and small creeks still have  some.  Sure is differant from years back when if even a ditch had water in it, you had rats in there.  Should be interesting  on the price of rats  the first auction  in Canada.

I haven,t caught so few rats since I first started trapping as a kid.
Would like to stumble on some close to home--less than 100 miles away.

Yep, i have to agree with you Tom on the rat  catch .  Interesting how our DNR doesnt study this aspect of furbearers.  Granted no money but its like  colleges  , example  Stevens PT, WI  college of natural resources , they  dont get money or grants they cant study and majority of studies are done by students and grad students with thier thesis.  Now if it was deer or wolves, money would be found...  One thing i know IF there werent many deer  thus  alot of people wouldnt buy deer lic, the DNR would go down the tubes... even with fishing lic.
