7.62X39 Barrel
« on: December 09, 2012, 10:36:05 AM »
Not sure if H&R still has any 7.62X39 barrels in stock, but before I try and order one what is the barrels bore diameter and twist?  Does anyone have one?  Thanks, Bob

If they aren't on the H&R web site, they won't sell one even if they have em in stock as stated in the new acc barrel sticky,  bores are .310ish", 1:9¾" twist per the FAQs.  Gendoc has 3 of em, he's slugged em  at .308725", .309219" and .309696".

Mine is .3095" and shoots very well with the Hornady Z-Max bullets... they are no longer available new... I got mine here on GBO from a friendly "Yo-Upper!" (<<<) How do you spell that P? I chopped it down to 18" and added a Ross Schuler muzzle brake and fit it to my .30/30 SB2 frame with a textured black Boyd's Sterling thumbhole stock set... it has a DNZ mount with a Mueller Multi-Shot 3-9X40mm with German #4 reticle.

That would be a Sport Dot, the Multi-shot is a 2-7x32.  ;)

Yep... I have both and I incorrectly name them on a regular basis... but I don't get the power specs wrong. It is indeed a "Sport Dot" 3-9X40mm with German #4 reticle... the "Multi-Shot 2-7X32mm is on my .30/30 barrel (same frame) and has a nifty Multi-Purpose Crosshair reticle which is very nice as a short range hunting scope.

Yup, I know, I've had several Mueller scopes for years, since just after they opened business, I was instumental in the creation of the APV, a replacement for the popular Simmons ATV, history is on RFC. I have the 2-7x32 MS, 3 or 4 Sport Dots, 2 TAC 2s, an Eradicator and the Hybrid, all on H&Rs.  ;D

Tim

I don't have one, I have 3 ATVs left, did have 4, but the APV was designed pretty much as a clone of the ATV after is was discontinued, but with improvements that were desired by RFC members, I sent an ATV to Rich Schlamp at Mueller who sent it out  for evaluation by optics mfrs and "cloning", the APV is the end result.

I have had Mueller's for years... I have a dozen APV's... two APT's, four Sport Dots, two Eraticators, two Hybrids, two Multi-Shots and two 8-32X Targets... they are mounted H&R centerfires and Savage, Ruger and CZ bolt action rimfires as well as full custom 10/22 clones. If you did have some roll in the design or introduction of the APV, thanks... it is a great little scope.

Worst thing is I've never had an APV, Rich sent me a TAC 2 for the donated ATV and work on develpement of the APV since I already had several ATVs, Mueller has since made an upgraded version of the APV for Eabco, the Brown 97D, don't have one of those either. Mueller Optics are good scopes, I've only had one problem with one of the Sport Dots fogging internally, send it to Rich and he sent me a new replacement the next week!  :D
