Where does "poverty" end?
« on: October 28, 2012, 12:59:28 AM »
Should a household getting $60,000 per year be considered "impoverished"?  Evidently the government thinks so:

Actually, it is probably more a testimony that government can't do anything very well or efficently.. ;) :D

I haven't tried to look it up, but I heard recently that $60, 000 per year is in the top 5 percent of incomes.  I think what they meant was that 95 percent of people make below that amount.

If you are breeding your own third world nation that would be poverty level. If you need to get yourself an elected position that would be poverty level. If you have no self respect or personnel dignity that would be poverty level. If you are chained to a boiler in New York city with no way of relocating that might just be poverty level.

Yeah, really! 20k free and clear with no taxes or need for a job would be really sweet.
