SB2 Front Sight
« on: September 25, 2012, 06:41:44 AM »
My son has a .44 mag SB2 handi. Somehow the front sight came off and is now lost. Gun Parts has them but they come in several sizes. I'm not a machinst nor a smithie. The come in:

.476, .578, .562 and .528

Any ideas which would be a good "standard" sight to get for replacement.

My 45-70 in a 22" bbl has a .476 sight.  My .223 has a 5.78 with a 20" bbl.  I do not have a .44, but maybe somebody else here does.

I use the same Williams shorty ramp and firesight insert combination with the WGRS peep for both the 44mag and 45-70 22" Handis, so I'd say the .476" 45-70 front sight should work for the 44 mag as well as the 45-70.  ;)

My 44 Mag barrel came with the .528 front sight along with the Williams ramp rear sight. Just a thought, if you buy a front sight and it is too high, you can always file it down and Blue/Paint it. If you buy one too low, there is not much you can do with it except replace it.
