Maxi with Sierra 158 gr. Deep Curl HP
« on: September 30, 2012, 11:14:07 AM »
Has anyone tried it?  I'm thinking it'll give higher velocity than the 180 gr. SSP.  How about range?  Will the heavier bullet carry better?  Thoughts please.

Pete

Peter,
It will be fine for targets and small gritters. But forget about it on deer sized game, the GD's HP is a big one, expansion is a problem at lower velocities... at Maxi velocities its NOT a problem and with this kind of slug OVER expansion is a real probelm. Been there done that...

Try a 170GD SP if you want a bit lighter projectile. Its a good one!!
