Got an answer from Ruger
« on: July 22, 2012, 03:02:42 PM »
They told me that they don't recommend using anything but American made brass case ammo in their Minis.

What experiences have Mini 14 owners had with different kinds of ammo?  There are foreign made rounds that are boxer primed, brass cased and non-corrosive.  Even Hornady makes steel-cased practice ammo.

When had my mini 30 it never failed to fire any of the Rus/  RJChi or brass ammo I fed it.  Hitting anything was another thing but never had a problem it functioning. ;)

My Mini-14 Ranch will digest anything it's fed . I've shot a bunch of Wolf steel cased ammo through it , with no ill effects !
