So. Jawja this last weekend
« on: July 03, 2012, 08:42:40 AM »
Went down to look at what the timber cutters had done at the farm.  MAN!  I hardly recognised the area of planted pine they clear cut!!   :o  They also started cleaning out between the rows of smaller pines and are going to thin them out.  And the area I hunted for years will be clear cut also.   :(  'course they aren't touching the bottoms or hardwoods.  Just the planted pine.

I hope we have enough time after they finish for the area to quiet down and the deer establish their new travel routes, etc..  Maybe we'll try to put in a few small kill plots around the edge.   :-\

But I'll tell you what be de truth!  It was African hot last weekend!   :o  We drank a 12 pack or so before 11 AM just trying to keep hydrated!   :P

LOL! Beer as a hydrater. Richard. Put Kathy in charge of the hydration. You'll live longer.

I cussed the cutters and thinners on our deer lease everyday of deer season last year.
But last month I killed my first 3 coyotes in the clear cut. headed out rat now to try for #4.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

Hunting club I was in for 37 years got clear cut twice.  We thought it was the end of the world as we knew it but it turned out for the best. A lot of new growth started that fed the deer and we made some nice green fields where the skidder landings were.

Dont be sad for the timber ,,,, we're about to thin ours and I cant wait to see what it'll do for the deer hunting. I'd take a truck after the anvil tho.
