The Lookout – Tue, May 29, 2012 A man and a woman are enjoying time on a beach, when the surprised woman finds a beautiful engagement ring buried in the sand. Then the man turns and proposes to her.
Well ... that would have been a romantic story.
Instead, Dr. Steve Carr forgot where he buried the ring.
Carr, a brain surgeon from Denver, intended to pop the question to his girlfriend, Mary Naam, last month while the two were vacationing in Naples, Fla. When the moment came, Naam dug around, but couldn't find the diamond ring.
"It wasn't so smart. I wouldn't recommend something so risky,"
Carr told WZVN.[Related: Is this the world's most epic marriage proposal?]They enlisted the help of a dozen strangers, who helped look for the ring for a few hours. "We were digging and digging, and I thought there was no way we are going to find it," said Naam.
The WZVN story didn't go into detail about how Carr placed the ring in the sand. But Naam decided to look up a ring finding service that uses metal detectors. Not long after a representative showed up, they found the ring.
And she said yes.
"It's never leaving my finger again," Naam told WZVN.
