Anyone watch Animal Planet last night? (5/27)
« on: May 28, 2012, 09:27:23 AM »
Any of you catch "Mermaids" on the planet last night?

It was very interesting and I hope its on again cause I fell asleep right thru the middle...   It REALLY was good, I just was up early and busy all day then about 6 we sat, relaxed and drank a few beers... SO come 9PM when it started, I was well relaxed....

The crux of the show was YES they are real and the NAVY has a few bodies!!!  MAYBE even a live captive!

Love to hear what you all think....

CW,
i could hardly wait for that to come on.  on my cable network they ran it twice in a row. i watched it both times.
i watch alot of documentaries, on alot of subjects. i say that to establish a base. compaired to anything else i have watched, it seemed very fake.  very interesting yes.. but the dr's and specialists they had on there, they seemed to be b list actors playing parts, not real dr's and researchers.  it nearly had a blair witch feel to it.
im not really talking about the 'evidence' they had , but rather the look and feel of the show, when it came to some of the footage, naratives of the dr's.. looked fake.
but it really was a interesting show.. they made mermaids sound a bit fearsome bad ass sea poeple lol

I watched it but IMHO the jury is still out on how real some of it was. Like the "video" from the cell phone near the end.

It's all true I got the skinny from those who know. A flying saucer landed in my back yard with Elvis , Marilyn, Big foot , the Easter bunny 2 green guys and John Lennon. I listened to them tell everything while they smoked some martian bud and pigged out on peanut butter and nanner sandwiches.
Then D B Cooper showed up riding side saddle on a unicorn pulling a rockin chair with Howard Huges sittin in it they all loaded up in the saucer and split for Utopia.

I won't say definitely fake but suspect it was. For one thing I used to have a cell phone of the type shown. It does not do video only still photos. The segment where the supposedly dead merman/mermaid on the beach definitely looked fake. If it had been healthy enough to do that it wouldn't have stayed on the beach but would have gone back to water.

Now if such did exist and who knows they might then I'd not put it past the government to capture and study them but see no good reason why they'd want to kill them enmasse.

Do they have a sonar weapon that will kill creatures in the water? Maybe but I see no reason it would kill only whales and dolphins and not fish. I think it was all just another elaborate TV hoax.

I saw a piece of it and thought I was drunk - what is this, mermaids?

I do know that active sonar can be VERY loud.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

ok here is my take.
firstly, yes that model cell fone did not do video, so thats a fraud.
secondly, they were addressing 3 separate issues/legends in one show and trying to make connections where non existed.
mermaids, killer sonar and aquatic ape theory.
the problem with the government's killer sonar is this.. sounds waves travel thru water at something like 10x faster .i.e. faster and longer distances.. now being a amateur radio guy i know it take 10 times the power of rms wattage to 2x the sound or distance .. meaning 100watts of power would be some where 100,000 under water, killing just about everything in its range.
bigger animals like whales would be killed, but so would all the small fishes, creepy crawly and whatnots .. so when these supposed beaching happen, where is all the dead small marine animals, sharks and whatnots ?? its bunk !
third, the aquatic ape theory is just a made up idea, with next to no real scientific data to support it. it came from the idea that early man did not travel out of africa and cross open land, but followed the coast lines. and maybe, just maybe they adapted to live in and near the water... then adapted back to inland living... more bunk !
and every one more or less knows the legends of mermaids. so, they make a silly connection between mermaids and aquatic apes.
its a small jump to say that maybe the killer sonar got the mermaids too..  the show was so poorly put together that its pretty easy to see the lack of continuity .

lol, actually being drunk might have made the show a tiddly bit more interesting  ;D

I don't have cable so I can't see it, but I'd of liked to have seen that. I'd imagine a dead mermaid will wash up about as quick as a dead bigfoot on the hwy. POWDERMAN.  ;) ;)

the bigfeets and bear work together, the bears get the fish and the bigfeets get the mermaids,, keep the beaches clean so the whales that get killed by the government super sonar have a nice place to wash up on, cuz everyone knows how posh whales are  :o 8)
