ok here is my take.
firstly, yes that model cell fone did not do video, so thats a fraud.
secondly, they were addressing 3 separate issues/legends in one show and trying to make connections where non existed.
mermaids, killer sonar and aquatic ape theory.
the problem with the government's killer sonar is this.. sounds waves travel thru water at something like 10x faster .i.e. faster and longer distances.. now being a amateur radio guy i know it take 10 times the power of rms wattage to 2x the sound or distance .. meaning 100watts of power would be some where 100,000 under water, killing just about everything in its range.
bigger animals like whales would be killed, but so would all the small fishes, creepy crawly and whatnots .. so when these supposed beaching happen, where is all the dead small marine animals, sharks and whatnots ?? its bunk !
third, the aquatic ape theory is just a made up idea, with next to no real scientific data to support it. it came from the idea that early man did not travel out of africa and cross open land, but followed the coast lines. and maybe, just maybe they adapted to live in and near the water... then adapted back to inland living... more bunk !
and every one more or less knows the legends of mermaids. so, they make a silly connection between mermaids and aquatic apes.
its a small jump to say that maybe the killer sonar got the mermaids too.. the show was so poorly put together that its pretty easy to see the lack of continuity .
lol, actually being drunk might have made the show a tiddly bit more interesting
