Pistol Grip Only on Handirifle?

Anyone ever done something like this? As long as the barrel's over 16" and the OAL is greater than 26", it's still a rifle.
I'm thinkin' bipod and red-dot scope....
I like that trigger guard, too:

The "Handall" might make for a good conversion candidate. It offered a full handgrip with integral bold.
26" is min OAL. Most add a 1/2" for good measure.
Not sure on legality, something makes me say the barrels rifling may make a difference.
