Great for low pressure chamberings, no t-bar, lighter frame and barrel are pros, cons are cast iron frame and brazed or soldered underlug. I've converted modern frames with old style hammers, so with a Superlight barrel ya can have your cake and eat it too if you're aware of the non-transfer bar pitfalls, IE unintentional discharges.

Quick,
To do that, don't you also have to replace/change the hammer spring?

Yes, the anchor spot on the old hammer isn't in the right spot to work with a modern spring, but the double coil spring works with a little modification.
