I have an older one in 12ga.  Never had a problem with it.  I always found it hard to get off safety.

It will break in.  Spray some rem-oil in the action.

i've had a chance to use this pump for awhile now. bought a carlson's extended turkey choke .575 and a primos tight wad turkey .570. have tried #2 lead 3" 1.25oz [old stock], 3" 2 buck, and 2.75" 1oz #4 lead shot.
the two chokes both worked fine. little difference between them with the three shot types. the buckshot put 12 or 13 of 18 on paper at 45 to 50 yds. it was hard to tell exactly because i had snow shoes on. paper size was 22"x25".
#2 lead shot gave me about 50% hits at the same distance with the same paper. slight edge for the tight wad choke, but not by much.
#4 shot at 45 to 50 was nice even pattern. need to check it more for consistancy. plus i need to try some #6 for patridge. at 20 yds the #4 is a tight 12" pattern with center shot out. hard on birds i'd say. wanted the tight chokes for this time of yr because i love snowshoeing in the woods. good coyote ground. and the racoons are starting to get out on nice days. the mod choke that came with the gun has nice pattern at 20 but is sparse further out.
gun has functioned great by the way. may try some short range ducks with the mod choke next fall. or if i get some HD loads may be able to try the tight chokes.

I've killed numerous ducks with mine.  I crippled a lot of birds past 30 yards with the modified choke.  Those 3" magnum loads on that light shotgun will get your attention.

I haven't hunted ducks much in the last 6-7 years.  I was using #2 steel 3" magnums.  I just realized you have a 20.  Mine is a 12.

i 've got a few small ponds i could hunt short distance with the 20 to see if i like duck hunting. if i get the bug for it may invest in a 12 later on. will try to get some hd shot for the 20 maybe cause of smaller loads. am enjoying the maverick sir. thanks for replies

back before our current presidtn was president, I worked for the city of boulder as a controls engineer. My co-worker was having racoon issues and wanted to know the best way to mitigate them. I told him to just get a shotgun. He bough a maverick 88 sporting and never fired it. barak hussien started politicking and this guy jumped on board. Evidently, in one of his rally's in colorado, the instruction was given to rid thier houses voluntarily of any guns. Dave wanted to be a good goos stepping supporter and asked if I'd give him 100 bucks for it. I did immediatly and its just sat in my safe, unfired for 4 years or so. I need to shoot it one of these days

Yes, I was really glad to be there for him. Id say that was the closest Id ever come to helping a barak hussien supporter in thier cause. I'd love that sort of opportunity again, but this time I hope I can help with a 357 Ruger LCR. If you know of any barak hussien supporters that need to get rid of a nice concealed carry for 100 bucks, send them my way. Always glad to help where I can.

picked up another maverick today but it was definitly not new. 12 ga with 30" full choke plain barrel. rough look but shoots fine. may have never been apart, and needs a cleaning. may need to break out the wd-40 for that barrel retaining bolt. maybe that's enough guns

crazy how dirty that old 12 was, almost like it was full of sand. never stopped shooting. after a cleaning it's smooth but still ugly

I finally got to shoot that maverick 88 of mine today. It shoots, but its too long for me. Not to mention it kicks like a mule. Lets just say its a backup gun for me. Dont shoot a benelli M2 immediatly after shooting the 88. That aside, it performed flawlessly.
