Jason,

This bullet cast with Lyman #2 alloy, lyman super moly lube and sized to .430" will shoot 100 yard 1 to 1.5 MOA groups out of (4) different Handi 444Ms and the 44 Mag Handi I sent you.  The bullet has proved accurate at velocities from 1500 to 1900 FPS, I haven't tried to push it faster than 1900.  All five barrels I have shot this bullet in where made in Illion, NY.  Note, the as cast weight of this bullet is 270 grains.  This bullet has a very large HP and per my friend who has killed deer with it, it does a fine job.

I use moderate or light loads mostly, I use a lot of FB bullets, mostly 429421 Lyman 245gr , and I am also using a Lee 310 gr GC mold, which throws a 300 gr bullet with my alloy, and no gas check. It shoots very well and I only take it to about 1400 fps, which kills deer extremely dead out to 125 yards (so far). It is an inexpensive mold which paid for itself with the first 100-150 bullets, and has made about 10X that many so far, and from experience I expect it to make 8-10 K.

I would suggest one of Veral Smith"s LBT moulds. Check the "Ask Veral Smith" section of this web site.

Believe it or not, the Lee C430-310-RF is an amazingly accurate bullet in the 444, and devestating on game.  I have never had any jacketed bullet in any caliber do a better job.  I shot a hog with mine, my son shot a larger hog with his the next day.  Mine broke 3 ribs going in, 5 going out.  The heart was shredded, hog moved 3 ft after the shot.  My son shot his in the neck, bullet was in the ham on the opposite side.  His hog weighed 225 lbs, mine was about 175.  His bullet started out at 320 gr with the check and lubed, it weighed 270gr and expanded to 0.810 diameter when recovered.  Cast from wheelweights, about 75% clip on, 25% stick on.  Get the 6 cavity Lee's, the 2's do not hold up well.

Thanks for the tip!  That's the mould I was going to get for my 444 cast bullet shooting.   ;D

+1 on what geezer said.

I use a little lighter bullet than the Lee 310gr in my .444 (a 290gr custom) just because it shoots a little better than the Lee in my gun.  The Lee has a little bit fatter nose & had to be seated deeper than the crimp groove to chamber.  Since it's a single shot, that's no big deal.

The accuracy of the Lee is plenty good enough and if I didn't have the other, I'd shoot the Lee and be just as happy.
I shoot the Lee 310 in my Winchester 94 .44 mag and it killed 4 deer this year - none ran more than 30 yards.  Velocity in the Winnie was around 1550fps.  My twist in the Winnie is 1:38 and it will stabilize, regardless of what someones' calculated formula says.

The bore on most rifles is oversize compared to pistols - .432", so if you can get it to .433"/.434" it helps.
If the Lee or Lyman doesn't do it for you, there are many group buy custom molds at castboolits site that would probably work.  If you are in a hurry for one of them, don't bother - some of those take months to get.
