Kinda OT, RCBS Case Prep Center question....
« on: February 20, 2012, 10:01:03 AM »
This is off topic, but I could have sworn I remember reading it in this forum......

I acquired an RCBS Case Prep Center about a week ago.

I think I remember seeing someone post an improvement they made to theirs, but I can't find the thread.

Someone made an adapter for a case trimmer and attached it to one of the stations on the Center. I would like to do the same, but would like to see how it was done. I think it was a Lee cutter that uses case length gauges, but I don't know if I will be able to cut threads in the cutter head, I think it's probably tool steel.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?  :-\ :)

Found it. Tim posted it a while back. I guess if you anneal the end of the cutter, it softens it up to drill and tap.

I've posted about it in the Handloading Forum here a few times,  Dave(VTDW) at MO is the originator of the idea.  ;) Just be sure to use a vice for a heat sink and only anneal the end of the cutter.

Got a friend working on a collar/cup with a set screw for mine.  I won't have to do anything to the cutter just loosen the set screw and put another one in.

I'll post some pics when I get it.
