Bore Freshening
« on: January 22, 2004, 06:38:26 PM »
I think it was hand loader magazine i read an artical about bore freshening-reboring a rifle barrel up to the next size caliber. Would a 7-Rem Mag be a good candidate for a 300 Win Mag? I was wondering if anyone has done some thing like this, where to have it done, and about how much it would cost. Thanks-Tad

This usually done only to preserve the inscription on a rifle that may have collector value but whose bore it ruined.  The reason is simple economics.  It costs a whale of a lot more to rebore than to simply rebarrel.  The results will usually be superior also..  Simly send you rifle to the smith of your choice of the barrel maker and they will return it with a new barrel installed..
