Is there a rough equal to, say, a 20 ga. sabot slug/rifled barrel to a particular rifle or pistol-cal carbine round?
What about for a rifled-slug via the cylinder bore of my Pardner Protector?
And, are recoil levels comparible to those equal rounds?
Not terribly versed in slug use, beyond having tried PDX1 in my .12 Protector. and am curious about the idea of using these as opposed to big bore rifles or carbines for around the home/short distances (25-50 yards, max).
The PDX1s I tested, I was rather impressed with. I had expected them to kick like mules, prior to firing them. They actually kicked about half as much (felt recoil, to me) as my usual 2.5 00 buck loads, with near equal destruction at the bizness end.
But those I intend to reserve for SD/HD, anti-personnel use.
Im considering the above options for anti-critter use- Black Bear/Boar/Coyote.
And, I found a 20 ga. rifled-barrel slug H&R , locally, for a reasonable price, and am trying to decide if there's an actual use for one in my arsenal, when I have the .410/12 ga/ .45 auto options covered already.
