Jim,

go to their loading data center and find the loads using Trail Boss powder.  If you load a seriously reduced recoil plinking load you probably will not have a 250 yard PBZ gun.

I agree on the 25-250 yd "reduced" load being effective at all ranges you want. If it were me I would look for a high performance lighter than your usual bullet and enjoy the recoil difference by that method. But I would look at the bullet design carefully to make sure it is for the game you are after... thejanitor

Try loading some light bullets. A lighter bullet means less recoil.

As said the sierrar pro hunter or nosler bt 125 grain. Or use a 150 grain 30-30 bullet pushed about 2ooo ft second. h4895 should work well with any suggested.

When doing a long range minimum load for 250 yard, I started at JBM Ballistics using a calculator to find velocities in the range needed for a given bullet.  When I was calculating a 250 yard load for my 7.5x55 Swiss, I took a starting load of the powder I was going to be using and found the velocity that load gives with the powder.  Once you have that, plug in the bullet and velocity at JBM and they give you a chart.  In my case, my bullet was a 180gr. Hornady BTSP, which per Hornady requires 1600 fps to expand correctly for clean kills.  So I bumped my starting load at JBM until I ended up with 1700 fps at 250 yards, thus giving me a margin of 100 fps to still get the performance I needed.  These worked good even with the bigger bullet and kicked about 1/2 as much as the Hornady Custom loads I'd shot using 165 gr. bullets.  So my recommendation is to find what the bullet you'll use, make sure what it takes to expand properly and then find the load that gives that velocity at the maximum range you require.  ;)
