ordering parts from H+R
« on: January 20, 2012, 12:00:58 PM »
The first week in December I sent in an order by mail for a wgrs peep for a Handi, provided them my email addy and phone number so they could contact me if necessary. I finally heard from them two days ago.....order has shipped. That was six weeks to get a peep sight in a padded envelope and put it in the mail. I guess I should have specified and ordered the mounting screws too, since they didn't send me any but I was under some silly impression that the screws to mount the sight to the gun would come with the sight :o . If I had any hair I'd probly tear some out.......Mike

If you had ordered from the mfg they would be, here they should be. I'd say a phone call is in order.

yeah i'm gonna end up calling them....but that can be a crapshoot too. Seems to me if they stored the peep sight AND the mount screws in a small plastic baggie it would be easier for their stock clerks to get it right. I've read that there's a member here that works for H+R but hate to bother him over something this trivial. OK...sorry guys, no more whinin 8) , i'm just a little miffed over this thing....Mike

If you have problems with getting them to do what they should have done at square one...

thanks much for the generous offer CW. Bottom line is this is H+R's problem, not yours  or mine, and they're the ones that need to make it right >:( ....I just hope it doesn't take six more weeks to get two screws 8) .....Mike

Just the same the offer stands, (I agree with ya on principal)

I have meerly to open a couple plastic boxes and extract the screws, drop in envelope and had to my mail lady... I could likely even offer options! Torx or Allen OR ol' school SLOTTED!!!  ::) ;)

Say the word and you will have a package from me in a couple days...

I've got some 6/48 scope base screws in a box and was thinking about matching up screw head size to mounting holes in the sight then could fit em to length(shorten as needed) but once again they just plain need to get stuff like this right.....Mike

to follow up on my rant I called H+R Monday and the screws I needed showed up in the mail yesterday. Not sure why they sent me two sets of screws but since I got what I need I'm not complaining. I have an extra set of mounting screws for the wgrs Handi peep if anyone needs em. Thanks again cw for your offer to help.....Mike. Now I just need to get the front sight height worked out.

Elec. tape any ol' hunk of wood up front to use as a test sight for height. etc.
You can get fancy if you want and actually whittle out a sight, but Ive done it with a popsicle stick and tiny finishing nail.......
