O.T. - Happy Dad - Version 2.0
« on: January 24, 2012, 02:27:52 PM »
My son is in the Ohio Air National Guard and currently attending the USAF F-16 fighter school @ LAFB outside Phoenix, AZ.  Today he made his first solo flight in the F-16.  His mom and wife where there to watch, and said his head is too big to fit in his helmet. ;D   It is a good day.  Now to make my first excursion onto facebook and watch the video of his takeoff. 8)

Video is on my wife's facebook acct. and apparently she needs to decide if I am a "friend" before I  can view it. :o   I just setup a facebook acct. for me about 10 minutes ago and I think I am going to have to wait until the post-flight celebrations are over before I can see the video. :P

Wish they had today's video capabilities when my granddad was flying for the Signal Corps in 1918.

A definite congrats to Dad and Mom, you've obviously done a great job as parents!
Also, congratulations and 'way ta go' to your son, and please let him know that this is one Canadian that appreciates his service and realizes the sacrifice that he and his wife make to do so, like so many other families in the Services.
A great day for all !

Tell him I envy the heck outa him Tom!   :D  I'd LOVE to fly one of those, just once... not to mention a F4 - Phantom as well as Corsair, or a Spitfire, FW190, andonandonandon...  :(

Airplanes is like wimmins, so many different ones you'd like to take on a test flight but never get the chance to...  :'(

Tell him to read High Flight http://www.deltaweb.co.uk/spitfire/hiflight.htm and enjoy every minute he spends in the air!
