One of my Boy Scouts is going blind. He is 15 years old. He can still see well enough out to about 60 or so yards and LOVES the outdoors. One thing he wants to do while he still can is get a deer. This kid is very intelligent and a joy to be with. Any way, While trying to get him a doe this season near our homes, It dawned on me that the best way to get a deer for this kid is in archery season.
There is no way he could use a standard bow, his good eye is to weak for that , But a cross bow with a scope!!!!!! That would do the trick! The one area I hunt in for archery, I have the perfect place to post him. Deer would come down the hill 15 yards out.
If anyone has a decent old cross bow that they can part with cheap, Please PM me. I can put a scope on it but the price of a new cross bow is out of my reach. This could go a long way to helping a great Boy Scout check one thing more off his Bucket List.
BTW I have a taxidermist that owes me a favor. When this kid gets a deer, buck or doe, I will get it mounted. Pictures may work for us, but they will not always work for him. This mount will be his picture to touch and see.
