I picked up a Cold Steel Outdoorsman Lite before the past deer season and field dressed two deer with it.  Very impressed!  It is still an honest shaving sharp after splitting two sternums (well cutting the ribs away from one side anyway).  Cold Steel makes some very good knives.

My first impressions are the American Lawman is a very fine folding knife. It is very lite, thin, but has a web of the grip to fit in the hand very nicely. It also fits in my pocket well. Once in I don't even know it's there. The pocket clip works well. The blade lock is the strongest I've ever felt. Once locked open there is no, I mean no play in the blade. Me and the Lawman are going to get along as friends.

Edit: The texture of the grips, being G-10, are very aggressive. That's fine in the hand, but rough on pocket material. I'm going to have to smooth the texture just under the pocket clip. I find the finger groves on the handle are perfectly placed for a full hand grip, and to choke up closer on the blade for fine work. I know this knife is sold as a EDC knife, but this will be my new deer cleaning knife. The Blade is AUS 8A. It came very sharp.

SURVEYOR, looks like you were a little excited about the arrival of your new friend... Looks like you were sitting on your porch waiting for the UPS truck with your camera in your hand! I have an American Lawman, and love it. I carry/use it everyday at work. Strong lock, still no blade play or slack of any kind after more than 2 years of carry/use, holds an edge well, and sharpens up like a champ. I am with you on the handle checkering being a little TOO grippy. Although I have never had ANY trouble with it jumping out of my pocket when I sit down, like I have with some of my other smoother texture pocket clip knives. I don't think I will try to smooth mine. I kind of like the fact that it holds on tight, even though I think it will wear out the fabric on all of my pocket edges... I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.
