A short action cartridge like the .243 or 308 can be rebored.  The 30-06 case family chamberings can't be rebored. You can get it rebarreled.

 just double checked ammoguide.com, according to them a 30-06 can be rebored/rechambered to 9.3x62 as long as barrel is of sufficient diameter to handle .366 diameter hole through it

I'd get a second and third opinion on the rebore of an 06 to 9.3x62. I've seen it on other sites that stated it wasn't a good option. Necking up 35 Whelen brass would seem a good option.

Thanks for the comments. I will check with a gunsmith later on an get his opinon. This maybe a happening.

            It's doable , but I have to ask why ? The Whelen is a superior round , and much easier to find reloading components for (bullets) !

Yea with the Whelen as rare as hen's teeth. The Whelen's always bring a premium price. So rebarrel and make the pump gun a giant killer. Just thinking.
