Anybody use a Vexilar? I am looking a several different models to buy. The model 8 seems reasonable.

Look at Marcum or a hummingbird, same price as the 8 but more features. I have te Marcum VX-1 pro I bought it last year after much online research. Marcum has the bottom zoom, which at first I didnt think I would use now I wont go without. Vexlars 8 are left in the dust by these other units. hummingbird was my second choice.

They do help u catch more fish, no matter what one you use.

I would agree to go with the Marcum vx1. The zoom feature is nice to have. Any flasher will help you catch more fish. I started years ago with an fl-8 then marcum lx3, lx5, and two days ago picked up the new lx7 but haven't got to use it yet.

This might make some people gasp, but I traded a Remington 700 in 222 Magnum for a Vexilar 20 Ultra Pack. I have an abundance of rifles and no ice fishing locator. It has many features. A 12 or 6 foot bottom zoom, a variable degree transducer in 8 or 12 or 20 degrees and a digital battery level read out. I have caught many crappies in the 6-9 inch range using this locator and am very pleased. There is 4 inches of good ice in most places here in Northern Wisconsin. I enjoy the long walks on the lakes and the good fishing. Fish fillets for Christmas dinner!

That will work, congrats on the purchase. Now that I own a flasher I wont go without one. Helps catch alot more fish if you use common sense and give the fish what they want. Good luck fishing.
