Black powder substitutes in a flinter?

Have any of you guys used any of the black powder substitutes (777, Shockeys, Pyrodex, etc.) in your flinters?  I shot my .58 Enfield this weekend with 777 for the first time, and was absolutely AMAZED at how little fouling there was with it.  In my 40 cal flinter, I continued to shoot Goex FFFg, with FFFFg in the pan.  Just wondering if I might be able to get by with BP in the pan, and a substitute in the bore.  The thought of doing an extraction makes me want to fire a blank load first however.
And, I'm going to shoot next weekend, and know I won't be able to get at cleaning my rifle for a good 6 hours after firing it, other than the bore patch thing.

from what I've seen with my own rifles, I'll stick with real black.  6 hours between shooting and cleaning will not be a big deal if you wipe the bore after shooting.

I try to clean my firearms as soon after shooting as possible. A 6 hour delay shouldn't be a big deal...as long as its not raining that day and the humidity is high.
 
I gave up years ago trying to find a substitute for blackpowder for use with a flintlock. I could never get as good & positive an ignition as I could with the substitutes as compared to the real stuff. These days I just shoot Blackpowder only.

About the only practical way to use subs in a flintlock is to first drop about 10 grains of black to prime the main charge of substitute powder and of course use black in the pan.

Why no cleaning for 6 hours???
 
I use a spit patch if needed in the field but in a pinch you can always use a tooth pick to plug the touch hole, pour about 6 ounces of water down the barrel and then pour it out...After drying and an oiled patch you have a clean barrel...
 
As to subs in a flinter, no thanks...I have a Goex distributor an hour away and visit as needed... :)

The reason regarding cleaning is simple.  The event is an hour away, and I have another event that follows and lasts a couple of hours right after that (a scuba event in a pool that goes until 7:00).  So the last shot will be at 3:00, and I probably can't get the water boiling in the kitchen until 9:00.

There's your problem, I never use boiling water...Water right out of a bottle is fine...Plug with a toothpick as I mentioned, pour fouling out, spray with WD-40, dry, lube and you are done...

I've shot 777 in my flinter without using duplex loads and couldn't see an ignition difference between it and Goex. I plan to hunt with it during Flintlock season.
