I shot it and let the oldest boy and one of his friends shoot it. Boooom Baby, that thing is pretty wild.

No, nobody hit in the head. My oldest son had a friend with him. I let them shoot it first. I told them to keep there left index finger from the tang, and hold it out in front of them and form a triangle and make sure that they are ready to squeeze the trigger. They did pretty good. The oldest boy still got bit a little. I would say it kicks 4x as much as the .243.

If you want something to set you free try an Encore 45/70 barrel that is tapered with no brake and shoot some 550 gr bullets at close to 1500 fps.
After that everything else seem not too bad.

My 45-70 has a brake, nothing compared to the 460 I traded to Chris K

+1 on the 45-70 Contender! There is one in a local gunshop-2 owner- with original box of Remington ammo minus 4 rds.  I saw the pictures of the owners. Between them they had more stitches than a baseball! Truth of the matter is T/Cs got real popular due to  a couple of good shooter/hunter successes on great bucks and everybody wanted one.  The 45-70 was the last one in the display so a newby bought it X 2!

No the truth of the matter is the 45/70 has been popular for over 100 years.
It set its reputaion by being a good caliber on the hunting fields and the target range.
In the contender/G2 with a correct chamber/throat you can duplicate the old BP velocities easily.
With an Encore one can get 1500 with a 550 gr bullet.  Few smaller calibers can equal it as far as brute power is concerned.  Not talking about energy figures here.
Kinda like comparing a D9 Cat to a funny car.  I've never seen a Cat on the dragstrip or a funny car pushing dirt,  boulders and trees.  One is speed one is power.
A 460 S&W with 200 gr bullet one would have to push it to 4125 fps and a 400 gr to 2062 fps to equal  the same momentum as the 550 at 1500 fps.
I don't think the 460 will quite make those figures at this time.
Forget about the 454 Casull and the 475 Linbaugh or 500 Linebaugh.
