I was probably 10 years old and myself and some kids from next door was throwing shingle pieces. We thought it was really neat how they would sail when you threw them like a frisbie. Was great fun till one of the guys threw one at that just right angle you need. Shingle sails up almost what seems like out of sight, then comes right back at you like a rocket. Hit him right above the eye and split him real nice. Half dozen stiches if I recall correctly. Needles to say it ended of that game, at least for the day.

Forgot to mention , fellow that was helping put ridge vent in got nailed by shingle that took off from one end of roof and hit him on other end.  Swipe a groove from his cheek just below the eye and split the end of his nose!  Talk about blood.... all the way down from roof ridge , down the ladder and on ground till i got compresses!   We kept compresses on till blood stopped and clotted and went back up and closed rest of ridge and called it a day..... youve heard the term bloodless sport well it doesnt apply to shingling in 40 mph winds!   :-\
