I carelessly drifted out all the pins of my 5-day-old Handi last night so I could take it apart to lighten the trigger! I got it back together this morning, but it was a little nerve-racking seeing all those loose parts sitting there

. The links in the FAQ (trigger work) were definitely the only reason I was able to get it back together, heh. This isn't the first time I've done something like this with a new gun, though, and it is definitely the way to learn your equipment!
I didn't go crazy with it, but I got it from probably 6lbs down to closer to 4lbs. The trigger is probably one of the crispest I've ever felt, though it was also the heaviest SA trigger I've ever felt, heh. I mean, I don't think I'd ever even owned a shotgun with a trigger that heavy

. But, now it is definitely better and I think my accuracy will definitely improve because of it. Next time out, (probably rounds 20-40 in the gun), I want to be able to ring the 6" gong at 200 yards 5 / 5 times. I did hit it my last two shots (shots 19 and 20 out of the gun) during my sight-in trip. But, the trigger was so heavy that I kept finding myself trying to steady the reticle while thinking "man, I wish this trigger would hurry up and break...geez this trigger is heavy...what in the world is taking it so lo--BLAM!"
But, I'm just taking it one step at a time regarding accuracy. I don't know if I'll ever really go for MOA groups or anything, as I prefer more macroscopic challenges (I'd rather shoot a 12" steel gong at 250 yards than try to shoot 1" groups at 100). But, I do intend to continually increase the challenges as I improve--maybe one day try for coke cans or clay pidgeons at 200 yards

.
I was going to try to take it out today but I ended up planning a date instead, heh. So, maybe I'll get out in the next few days and see what I come up with.
*edit*
Oh, it started life as a .308 Survivor. I replaced the stock for the shorter and adjustable OAL, and chopped the barrel to ~16.4" for the same reason.
