In general I don't usually care for bolt action hunting rifles, however years ago I bought a boat from a friend and to sweeten the pot he threw in a custom winchester model 70 in 250savage.  :) It was a pre-64 action and stock that had been rebarreled with a varmit weight barrel. I reshaped the stock instaling a pad & slimming it up as much as possible with a nice schnoble forend. Then I painted it with a stair paint that had sand in it, and finished it up with camo paint job. It turned out really nice, and I loved the caliber and the weight forward feel. I mounted a leupold compact 6x scope on it.
With winchester 100 gr factory loads it shot little tiney bug hole groups, it didn't like remington factory loads however. Most of the time though I shot reloads. I picked up 22-250 range brass and ran them through my fl sizing die and loaded them with AA2200 powder and 100gr CL bullets. The load I worked up gave me right at 2800fps in my gun. And shot wonderfully.
Then one day during a senior moment I sold it. Don't know why because it was the perfect gun for me.  ::)

You ever do stupid things like that?

Glad Im not the only that suffers from brain farts that find me selling a really great rifle.  With the exception of very few, I would buy'em all back for more than I sold them for now.

Duh!

If only I could get back my bull bbl 6mm... best shooting rifle Ive ever owned....  Or maybe the .22 Lever Action Marlin I bought with my "grass cutting money (traded for a lawn mower)...or maybe my
