Storage/Transport of Carbine Barrels
« on: January 05, 2004, 08:39:20 AM »
Has anyone found a good method for storing and transporting carbine length barrels with attached scopes.

I hate stacking them up in the gun safe, so guess I am looking for some kind of case. I sometimes take as many as 4 barrels to the range for sighting sessions.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards, LabsnGoldens

I have been using a short (approx 30") soft case for transporting an extra Encore rifle barrel to the range.  I got it at a gun show. I think it was designed for an AR 15 style gun.  It works great, it looks just like a regular gun case, except it is only around 30 inches long.

You might want to look at a "hard" case designed for arrows. They are about 36" long and should easily carry at least 3 and probably 4 scopes barrels. I have seen them as low as $15 but you may have to add some foam to get exactly what you want.
Just another worthless opinion!!

I use an "air ride" to carry my setup rifle, and a hard double rifle/shotgun case to carry extra barrels. 3 for sure, might squeeze 4 in.

I store mine in a hard, two rifle case, I can fit a complete rifle and two barrels

Thanks all, time to start looking for a hard case.

These darn T/C barrels just seem to multiply during the night. Can't believe a simple little purchase 3 months ago lead to 3 frames and 8 barrels and I already sold 2 other barrels, lol.

Try these cases.  The best money can buy .

Also airline rated.  Pressure purge valve and water tight O ring seal.

Our military uses them.

Carbine Barrel cases

When I had my Contender Carbine, I used a soft case designed for transporting a broken-down Browning Citori over under shotgun. It was good for transporting two scoped barrel/forends, or one scoped barrel and forend and one buttstock/receiver assembly.

Mine is made of black cordura and was fairly reasonable when I bought it. But I've seen canvas versions of same ... albeit pricey.
