222 versus 218 bee
« on: September 19, 2011, 07:56:37 AM »
I have a 218 bee 9" that shoots ok but I found a good deal on a tc octagon 222 rem 10" that Im thinking of buying. I have a 222 rifle so I have brass dies etc. Does the 222 have much advantage over the bee in a short barrel??? How bad is muzzle flash in a short barreled 222? I would only keep one and sell the bee barrel with dies and brass.

  Make mine the .222 please!

You can always load the 222 to B velocities, so it's a no brainer...  You already have .222 components!

I've gone through most if not all of the 22's in a Contender, still have a lot of them.  My favorite of all is the Bee...hands down...Hornet would come in a strong 2nd and probably the Jet 3rd.  In barrels less than 14" the triple duce would do no better than fifth or sixth...it sure is nice in a 21" though ;D .

Not much flash at all.  Long lasting and plentiful. fairly cheap brass.  Is my most accurate barrell with open sights. The only barrel i like better is a custom 12" 30/30.   8)

I have a T/C Custom Shop 15" .218 Bee barrel and it is one of my favorites.  It shoots 40 gr. V-Max into .600 groups @ 100 yds. at 2950 fps.

The shop offered me the .222  TC barrel for $120 with a forend and I couldn't resist :) . I can only afford to keep one so the Bee will go to the classifieds :( .
