I hope you've found your answer by now. If not, in short, the 611 is to the 611a what the pre-64 model 70 is to the post-64 model 670. The 611a suffers from cost reduction processes. lower quality finish, wood, and it seems accuracy. Get the 611 if it's still available. I hope you did as they are highly sought after.
